Pencil Pleat Measuring Guide

Measuring Guide for Curtain tracks

To measure for curtains with a plastic/metal track at the window for Pencil pleat heading.

Width - Measure the total width of your track (not the window) allowing for any overlaps in the middle of the track if corded and if any, end returns. We recommend having at least double the width of you window for adequate fullness, e.g. if your track is 90" wide then a pair of curtains each measuring 90" wide would be suitable.

Drop - place your measure at the top of the track and drop the measure to the point where you would like the curtains to drape to (Please see the diagram above). If measuring to the floor, a radiator or window sill we recommend leaving ½" clearance.

Measuring for Valances - Measure the total width of your valance track/board including any returns at the ends. The drop is different for each design & is depending on the style, but most are between 12" or 16" deep.
